"Yeah We Need to get Gas"

So Today I am up bright and early and off to the Offices in DC for my FIRST BUSINESS TRIP!

Mike picked my seat and scored me the window seat in the first coach row. I had so much leg room and it was awesome because there was no one next to me.

I have a lovely view don't I? One of my favorite parts is when you go up through the clouds. That is the best part! It's SO FLUFFY I"M GONNA DIE...

Here is my in flight reading. PALEO MAGAZINE Yay... Best of 2012, this is such a good copy and I was trying so hard to save some for the flight home.

I'll be landing soon, and then its off to meetings and meeting people and dinners :) Yay for traveling.

Quiet Day At The Office

So today there is like no one in the office because many people are out of town at our corporate offices and so I am very lonely today... BUT I am excited that I get to travel tomorrow to our corporate offices and I get to meet a ton of new people tomorrow!!

Last Night Recap

Yesterday was a "RUFF" day to say the least with work and some things going on in my personal life, (which is kind of a Train wreck right now) I was looking forward to just crawling into bed. I had a twirling lesson scheduled and I got into work bright and early so I left at 4 and ran down to my twirling lesson and it was the best thing EVER. I was De-stressed just by walking in the door and the hour just flew by. I had so much fun and I am so happy that I have decided to join a twirling team. While I still feel out of shape I am feeling better and better every day.

I met a bunch of friends for dinner... One of my friends had a BIG surprise and so we all went to the British Beer Co.
My friend PTC had the Big news and Guess What kiddos....

HE GOT THE FULL TIME JOB OFFER!!! PTC and I were the lucky ones following graduation that were tasked with the burden of going from PT job to PT job, into Temp job to another Temp job and FINALLY he was hired on FULL TIME!!! He is so happy and excited and so we celebrated him last night!!!

60 Minutes of consistent twirling and full body stretching.

I love when you get a full body workout and it is all just FUN... I have been thinking about taking a yoga class since I would like to work on my flexibility. Thoughts anyone? Should I buy a yoga DVD and just do it at home? Or buy a class session with a real teacher?

Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain...

This is exactly how I am feeling today...

But I am trying to simply push through... Normally when I get frustrated at work or in my life I start to analyze every aspect of my life. I decided that I was going to change that, and while today seems to be the test, I plan on getting through. Besides I have LOTS TO DO TODAY...

Today is my first lesson with my Fabulous Duet partner... Yep I am excited that one of my new team mates wants to do a duet with me! I can't wait to get started!

Plus I have some dinner plans with some of my friends. I am a little bummed that I have no TRX in the plans tonight, since I am loving the TRX. I feel like I am getting jacked already.

Last Nights WOD:

2 Sets (of 10) TRX Chest Press
2 Sets ( of 10) Bicep Curls
2 Sets (of 10) Hip Abductors
2 Sets (of 10) Hamstring Curls
3 Sets (of 10) Squat Presses
It was a killer workout and took me about 30 or 40 minutes. I did a few more of each movement because I was learning the movements, but I only counted 2 or 3 sets of each. I always do a few when I learn a new movement to test it out and work on my form. One thing I liked about Crossfit was that we always worked on our form before before we jumped into a WOD so I am trying to get back into that habit as well.

Workouts for the Week:
Sunday: OFF
Monday: TRX
Tuesday: Twirling
Wednesday: TRX
Thursday: Core Work and Stretching
Friday: TRX
Sat: Twirling

Meatza and TRX

So I am determined to get this body in shape and I feel so much better when I workout regularly. I DO MISS Crossfit, because it was an hour of hard work and pushing me beyond my limit but I just can't afford it. So instead I have  been getting into TRX I downloaded an app on my phone and I do a variety of movements.

This is what the movements look like and  you are supposed to do each movement for 3 rounds.

You can choose to work on Mobilty, Core, Upper and Lower Body.  I like to mix and match to get a full body workout.

Mobility is great to make sure that your body is moving the way it should.
So I am trying my hardest to do a full body workout 4 to 5 days a week. I also consider Twirling a full body workout.

Food For Thought
Tonight for dinner we had Meatza, Ground beef seasoned with a Taco flavors, and cooked like a pizza crust and then topped with salsa and cooked. Then I topped that with lettuce and some sour cream and served it with a side of steamed broccoli. Dinner was quick and easy and satisfying.

He Can Fart on Me...

Look how little he is.... isn't he a cutie, he must have my good looks. Haha Just Kidding. I love this little guy so much. He is super cute and even though he slept the whole time we  bonded. He had gas and so he was tooting on me ALOT. He is the only person who can fart on me and I won't mind.

This was Mike's first newborn that he has ever held. At first he was nervous but he held him like a natural and it was super cute to watch him hold the baby. Just notice how GIANT his hand looks against the little baby.

Such a sleepy baby.... I can't wait until this little guy gets a bit bigger and we see his personality!

Food For Thought
So over the weekend I ate a little off Paleo but I remained balanced. I brought my bananas and peanut butter and tried to make the best decisions. I even got to eat at a YUMMY JERSEY Dinner and omelette and with Pork Roll and Cheese. It was so yummy.

So everything in moderation and babies all the time!!!

Fun Fridays

Alot of Blogs that I read do whats called "A List of Things" or Favorites. So I decided that I would do some of my favorites and things that are really on my mind or that I am into on Fridays. Good change of Pace.

1. They warm my heart. I love my buggaboo ( Ace the dog ) but he loves his daddy so much and seeing them together is the BEST THING EVER!!!

2. Best Breakfast ever.... Minimal cooking and cleanup and its super easy, super awesome looking, and its Deviled Eggs and Bacon.. Yum and Yum

3. I am totally obsessed with Teddie Peanut Butter and Banana's and eating the last spoonful straight out of the jar makes me feel AWESOME...

4. There is no better feeling than cooking a meal for the first time and just wanting to jump up and down because it tastes so amazing...

5. I have RED Highlights and they are fading because they are semi permanent and I want them back :(

6. Twirling makes me happy and it makes me feel like a kid again, except when my hips and knees hurt the next day.

7. Probably should be a party planner, since I love hosting and planning parties.

8. I want to buy this and do it for Ace's First Birthday!!!

9. I really want to read Most Talkative by Andy Cohen... Any one read it ? Was it good?

10. I am very heart broken that they are getting a divorce... Can we FORCE them to stick it out... Divorce is to easy to come by these days...

What are some things on your mind today? Got a comment about any of the above?

Happy Birthday Baby Marvin Autrey IV

8LBs 9ounces and 19In Long

Welcome to the World Little Guy!!!
Last night the best thing happened... At 8:06pm on Wednesday January 23 2013 Baby Marvin was BORN!

I was on baby watch all day texting my mom and Mary and Friends. I couldn't wait for him to finally come into the world. This is the first baby in our family since I am an adult. It's so different now to know that my mommy days are not to far away. Last night me and the roomies sat around and explained all the crazy stuff about babies being born. Let's just say that Mike has a whole new understanding of births.

I was sad to be three states away and miss the birth of little Baby Marvin, but that is life. I love living in the Boston area and while I wish my family was closer, it still doesn't stop me from going home to visit. I will see him this whole weekend... I can't wait to hold him, and change his diaper, and kiss his lil belly, and introduce him to his cousin Ace and see Mike hold the baby. It's gonna be a great weekend and I am READY!!!

Mike and I popped his last bottle of Ommegang beer that he got for Christmas. It was delicious and was just what I needed. We also have Steak and Sweet Potato Chips and Green Beans in honor of Baby Marvin. Mike Celebrated with some Ben and Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream and I had a small Square of Lake Champlain Dark Chocolate Mint Crunch.

Work Out of the Day - WOD

50 Squats
4 Sets of Ten TRX Pushes
4 Sets of Ten TRX Rows
4 Sets of 10 sec each Ring Hangs
I did both of these

My workout was fun and simple and BOY AM I SORE. I love that I can workout in my own house especially since the temp has been in single digits... I don't sit in traffic my workouts are quick and effective and I don't have that weird, Hot and Cold and Sweaty thing... there is nothing worse than putting on your coat to go outside when your all gross and sweaty.

Tonight will be a rest night, and I am going to foam roll and stretch and then organize my closet and life. One More Day till I get to meet Baby Marvin!!!

Perfectly Paleo

So I know that the name of my blog says that I eat weird and the that I am living the Paleo Life. That is all true, one thing that some people have noticed is that I don't eat 100% Paleo all the time. That is also true, reason being is that there are some things in life I just won't give up. One thing I have learned by switching my diet is that I feel better when I eat better. I don't feel guilty I just feel satisfied and I feel like I can enjoy my food more. While I don't eat a lot of what I used to I still indulge and enjoy non Paleo foods from time to time. I am learning what my body can handle and I simply try and plan accordingly to keep my gut and body in check. I have a new found love for Teddie Peanut Butter, and while peanuts are not "Paleo" because they are a legume and are not good for humans they seem to be just fine for me. I eat and listen to my body and stay away from what makes me feel sick.

I reach for Teddie peanut butter over other brands because Teddie is all natural and organic and has less than one gram of sugar per serving. If i can reach for a bowl of banana and peanut butter rather than a big slice of cake, or a bowl of ice cream than that is a much better and healthier choice. It's all about choices and some are just not worth it. I want to get to the best shape of my life and so I am working towards that day by day. So what if I have a small piece of dark chocolate just as long as I exercise.

Plus I need to get this body and these arms in shape for Wedding season since I am going to three weddings this year and I want to buy a new dress or two and so I want to buy something different that is not something I own. Can I just say I have WAY TOO Much of the same things in my closet in different colors.. yeah I need to clean out my closet. I know I promised some style posts... and don't you worry they are coming!!! Stay tuned

Work Out of the DAY - WOD

We set up the TRX last night and so my workouts are going to be a mix of TRX, Crossfit, Gymnastics, and Twirling/Yoga...
I decided it's time to get serious about working out, I want abs and ripped arms and more flexibility so I NEED to get my butt in gear. So that is what I am doing.

5 Sets of TRX Push Up Hold
40 Unbroken TRX Rows
30 Squats broken into Sets of Ten

It was my first REAL workout in weeks and I was sore and tired after. Tomorrow I will up my game.

I need to vary my workouts and be more creative with them so that I don't get bored and give up. When the weather warms up I am going to challenge myself to some light running with Ace!

What are your workout goals and how are they going?

Out of Retirement

So on Saturday I was up bright  and early about 5am to get ready for my first day back as a Competitive Twirler. I was nervous for Two reasons.... I haven't competed in over six years and I didn't have my Mom and Mary to double check my stuff and make sure I had everything I needed. So I was up at 5am and made some coffee and got ready while I watched some TV. I had to do my own hair and makeup, and pack a bag of snacks and water. I was out the door at 6:30 on the dot and got there right at 7am perfectly on time.

I was busy running around and helping so I didn't snap any pictures. But the High School we had the competition was gorgeous. Mike and Scott came to cheer me on and it was great seeing them there. I did alright for my first time back but I wasn't really feeling it. I also sat there and watched the Solo and Strut events and it made me think about wanting to compete again in my solo. I would love to learn new tricks and create a new solo and see what I could do. I also am in love with a few costumes that I have seen around online...

This one is GORGROUS BUT OMG if you only knew the price... So expensive... This is one part of Twirling I don't miss the Pricey Costumes... Momma always paid for that ;)

I know this was only my first competition and I am supposed to just have fun and not worry about it, but it's much more fun when you have a good day. I am hoping that me and my team mates got all the bugs out and are ready to bring our A Game to the next competition. I think we were all a bit nervous since it was our first time all together and I know we will get better.

I have an AMAZING team and they have made me feel so welcomed and so much apart of the team, I couldn't ask for anything else. I just need to relax a bit more next time and just twirl and have fun!!!

One Love Lost, But an Angel Gained

"Not everybody drives a truck, not everybody drinks sweet tea
Not everybody owns a gun, wears a ball cap boots and jeans
Not everybody goes to church or watches every nascar race
Not everybody knows the words to "Ring Of Fire" or "Amazing Grace" RIP Uncle Eddie

Hey Kiddos... Sorry I have been MIA, but like has taken some crazy turns. We had a death in the family and alot on our plates to deal with. I needed to just unplug and do my own thing. One thing I love about my blog is being able to use my voice to say what I want, and sometimes that can over take or over shadow just enjoying the moment and living in the moment.

We lost Michael's Uncle Eddie to a long hard battle with throat cancer and while I am sad that he is gone, I know that the family gained an angel and that he is with Grandma and Grandpa and the rest that have been taken too soon. I am sure he is trying to rub wings with the NASCAR legends that have passed.

Anywho. So after a few days spent with the family, we looked  through photo albums and reminisced about old memories and laughed at the silly things Mike and his siblings did and then it was time for me to come out of retirement. Yep on Saturday I twirled for the first time in SIX WHOLE YEARS at the first competition of the year. Let me just say, OMG it's been so long. I will have more on this much later....

The rest of the weekend was spent, finishing up returning things from Christmas and just doing chores around the house. It was a long weekend with MLK day yesterday and with the short week last week it has been a weird few days. I was happy to wake up to my annoying alarm and start my day. While I can say I am very much a creature of habit, sometimes just following your routine is the best thing in the world.

So stay tuned for some more updates and look forward to seeing some new and Exciting Paleo recipes.

Change Your Way of Thinking...

So I get questions from friends about what are good quick dinners on the go, and one of my Blogger friends who just went Paleo had some questions for QUICK, EASY, and ZERO REHEATING, and REFRIDGING.

It's a tall order but the answer came to me pretty quickly. So here Goes... First of all, if your Paleo or just eating Clean like CNC or BEAH BUTT ( Who is single and ready to mingle ;) ) then here are my suggestions...

1. Plan ahead, inventory your fridge and freezer on Sunday and make a list of what dinners your going to make and what you need to buy. Do your grocery shopping on a full stomach when you have time to walk around and search out the deals. To save money I meal plan and shop at both Whole Foods and Stop n Shop. S&S is better sometimes for fresh veggies, but the meats are better quality at Whole Foods.

2. Meal Prep. It's better to make healthy choices when hunger sets in if you have good food in the fridge, So I hard boil eggs in the beginning of the week. Pre chop and wash veggies and fruits, I always lunch meats like Ham and Salame on hand and sometimes I even brown up some chicken breasts for protien in a snap. If your a fan of Tuna, stock your pantry with good tuna. I also am in love with Teddie Peanut Butter so I always have a jar on hand... I KNOW I KNOW Peanuts are NOT Paleo because they are a legume, but I seem to be ok with Peanuts and I Love my easy snack of PB and banana and I love my Paleo pancakes with Peanut Butter Versus Almond Butter... I don't mind Almond butter I am just on a PB kick at the moment.

* I know that I don't eat 100% Paleo all the time and that I eat more clean than I do Paleo, however I still like to say that I eat Paleo because I don't eat grains and I do follow Paleo Chefs and read more and more about it each day. But I do love my Peanut Butter and Cheese, which are the Devil!!!

Quick Dinner Ideas are as Follows:

-Tuna or chicken salad made with Homemade Mayo, or mixed with Avacado ( for Fat) with two hard boiled eggs, Carrot Sticks or Bell Pepper sticks on the Side.

-Big Ass Salad with 3 HardBoiled Eggs, Protien of Choice, Avacado, Lightly dressed, with banana and Nut Butter of Choice.

- 3 Deviled Eggs, mixed up with Home Made mayo, 6 or 7 Slices of lunch meat or a whole chicken breast eaten with Avacado.

A recommendation for GayleMarie would be to eat your typical breakfast. Then Whatever you would make normally for dinner, Prepare that ahead of time on Sunday, so Chili, or Steak and Sweet Potato, Paleo Pad Thai, and then portion it for lunch during the week, Then have items like the ones above ready and waiting in your fridge or in a lunch box with and Ice Pack. This way your eating your more hearty meals in the middle of the day and then eating lighter meals at dinner time, Right before or after your workout.

Paleo is all about getting enough Fats and protien to keep you full, I know that when I don't have enough fat in my meal I am looking for a snack later... the key is to listen to your body and know what and when to eat.

Also... For your yogurt Love... Try This...

Dress Rehersal

So today was a first... We had a full dress Rehersal for twirling since our first competition is on Saturday!!! I have to say I was extremely nervous leading up to today and now I feel much better. We twirled in our costumes and then we just drilled... I made a million mistakes but hopefully I left them at the studio and got all the kinks out....

Mike was a busy bee, and took down all the Christmas lights and the decorations and then we both took down the tree.... It's been a long day and so now I am a friends watching some football and Miss America!!! There is a twirler!!! And icing my knee and back.

I can definitely say that twirling as an adult is much harder on the body, I certainly feel it more and get sore but it's worth it. I am having so much fun and I wouldn't change it for anything....

Here are some photos from my Saturday... Ohh I had a bomb breakfast for sure Paleo pancakes with peanut butter!!! So good ohh and bacon too ;) Elvis would have been proud !!

Tis the season to take down the Christmas Tree...

Fa La la la... La la? La? La?

Yep I am that person, the one who still turns on the Christmas tree  after Christmas and the one who still has her house looking oh so Festive even though St. Nick has long been gone. The truth is I haven't had a chance to really spend the time and un-decorate. The thought of taking down all my decorations sounds like so much work, and after a long day of work, its the last thing I want to do.

Plus I am feeling like once I take it down it's going to feel so empty and cold rather than cozy and warm like Christmas makes everything.

Regardless I am taking down my tree tonight. I am having a, Watch-me-and-entertain-me-and eat-dinner-and-make-sure-I-am-home-to-take-down-decorations party. I know sounds so thrilling to be my friend doesn't it...

This Weekend I have my VERY FIRST EVER Dress Rehersal before a competition... I never did those with my other team but I am excited because I will get a chance to twirl with my costume on and see how it all works... Plus I'll get to know if I have everything I need and a whole week before competiton. Ill report back how I do... I'm a lil Nervous...

On a side note...

A brown and black pitbull like him WILL BE my next dog!!! The next Paleo Pup in this house...
Right Mike?

What are your weekend plans?

Easiest Breakfast Ever

So I tried the new iHeart radio alarm setting and needless to say it didn't work. My sleepy puppy didn't wake me up until 6:45am... and I am usually up and in the shower by 5:30am. I didn't have nearly enough time to do my normal routine...
Major Fail...
So instead I created one of the easiest breakfasts and super yummy too... I was hungry as I walked out the door, undercaffinated and so I grabbed my almost empty jar of Teddie Peanut Butter and a Banana and my packed lunch and headed out the door. When I got to work, I bought my coworker a coffee and the chowed down on my breakfast of banana and peanut butter....
I know Lindz would be proud

Best PB EVER!!!
So this Chick at CNC got me hooked on this peanut butter... Its creamy and chunky and its made with all natural products and has practically ZERO sugar. It's great for anyone looking to switch to a better PB.

I licked the jar clean... I was sad ace wasn't here to help me clean out the jar but it was scraped pretty clean..

Best idea ever... If your ever in the mood for a snack before bed, reach for this over a bowl of ice cream or a piece of cake, much more nutritious and much less heavy on the belly before bed... Goes great with a cup of Tea.

Food Eats

Paleo Pancake w/ Teddie Peanut Butter

Bananas and Peanut Butter

Ace Trying to eat Dad's Food.... We need to work on manners... And Mike being Authoritative

Paleo Pizza w/ a Sweet Potato Crust

So I have been lacking in posting my Paleo eats lately and that is because Life has just gotten in the way. I have so many things to tell you and yet at the end of the day the thought of firing up the laptop is just an unthinkable task. But I have been cooking and eating Paleo. I have tried to eat what I want in moderation and yet that doesn't work. I feel like I am loosing muscle mass and therefore I want to keep eating Paleo and UP my workouts.

Twirling is in the beginning stages of Competition, and so I am excited and anxious all at the same time. I hope I remember it all and I just want to do well... This has been in my mind since I got back in the swing of things. Taking it one day at a time... I will have more on twirling so stay tuned...

Here are my Top Most Read Blog Posts in 2012!!! Thanks for the Support!

1. Jennifer Livingston Story and Healthy Living

One of the best reasons I love having my blog is having a place to voice my own opinions. It is really awesome to see people reading the posts that I truly do believe in though.

5. GMO's and Pot... yes Pot...

I find it funny that this was also a  popular one, but I guess if you put Pot in it anyone will read it. Gotta love my controversial articles landing on top!!

Stress… For such a short word, there is so much that come with that. Being that it’s a new year I always feel a bit stressed out. There are always high emotions around the holidays and the new year and each new year there are expectations to make the new year better than the one before. As always there are new challenges to face and hardships to overcome along with many new memories to make and fun and un expected surprises. I am trying to face this new year and move throughout it dealing with my stress better. That is a task I am challenging day by day.

Life Recap:

Wedding bells are ringing for Dan and Meg and while they have certainly felt like family they will officially become family sometime this year. They are knee deep in Wedding planning and it certainly is fun to see them talk about their wedding day.

So typical
Too Cute for Words

Baby Marvin is COMING TO TOWN… We had Tracey and Marvin’s Shower and I was happy to be there and help out. My mom and Mary and the whole NJ crew did such an amazing job. It was so beautiful and everything was great. I hope Tracey and little Marvin enjoyed it, and I can’t wait to hold the little bugger and give him lots of kisses and be the best Auntie there is. I will always have gum, and an appetite for Ice Cream, as well as unlimited energy to play games and run around, and I will teach him anything he wants to learn. Baby Marvin, Your cool aunt it right here!!!

So many things are happening and it’s only 8 days into January. There are so many awesome new adventures to come up in 2013 and I can’t wait to face them all.

Ps. So far I am doing well back on the Paleo life, Feeling better, sleeping better, and trying so many new recipes. Check Back for more recipes soon!

New Year... New You!!

The number on New Year’s Resolution is always to Lose Weight. Gym’s see an increase in memberships and the TV is filled with commercials and gimmicks about this shake and that diet and all the above.

I can say that last year my thought was much like these, I wanted to lose weight in 2012 much like I have wanted to so many times before. I have lost weight in the past and then gained and then lost. In 2012 I wanted to lose and so I tried the Paleo “diet” (It makes me cringe to see diet anywhere near the word Paleo). I knew Friends that had started to eat Paleo and I thought…

“Well I will just eat this way until I get to my goal weight and then once I reach that then I will just make better and healthy choices to maintain that weight.”

This was a good thought until I realized that I feel better when I eat clean and that why would I eliminate all these foods, to be healthy and lose weight, just to introduce them back in and risk gaining the weight back. I had to face the reality that I have never been the greatest at maintaining my weight. I have Yo-Yoed for years and so something needed to give. I have never noticed that my body is slightly allergic to grains and some dairy. I have had knee problems since I was a young athlete and eating clean and grain free those problems are eliminated.

I have been trying to tell my friends and family to just try Paleo for a month. Just buy a Paleo Cookbook and try out some of the recipes. Will it be easy, probably not, but nothing that is new is easy. I started this blog to help those that just want to take a stab at Paleo, and want to make the best transition. At the end of the day, all you need to focus on is eating lots of yummy protein and veggies and fruits. I always say, Much like many in the paleo world, cut down on your intake of grains, don’t eat grains in the morning or at night, or only eat grains once a week.

“People who eat Paleo want to be healthy, People who follow diets want to TRY and be healthy.” –ME

I know a lot of people who will hate me for that last statement, and dieticians as well, but it all goes back to one thing, processed foods are the true evil, we don’t know what’s in it and we don’t know what it is doing to us. If we found out that grains and processed foods were responsible for Cancer who would stop eating those foods? Probably anyone who knows anybody who has suffered from cancer.

If you COMPLETELY disagree with me on Paleo just think about avoiding the idea of processed foods, if you choose to eat breads, buy a bread maker and make your own with fresh and great products. If you choose to eat Pasta’s make your own. Back in the day we worked hard to put food on the table, and now we just pour contents out of a box, or call for Take-Out.

Btw I made CNC's English Muffin this morning and it was bomb I want to try it tomorrow with some Nut Butter on it! :)
