"Whatever Life Throws At You!"

I watched this movie last night... It was a date night with myself. I came home made dinner (Spaghetti Squash, with Sausage and Rao's Sauce.)

Mike had to work late, "Whatever life throws at you" and so I had to rent a movie with Justin Timberlake in it. It was a laid back night. I also got a chance to catch up with my roomies and cuddle with the pups.

Spaghetti Squash and red sauce is a yummy dinner but I was hungry a little while later so I had some sliced Bananna and some Teddie Peanut Butter. It hit the spot. The Movie finished around 10:30 and so I hit the hay. It was a nice and quiet night.

Yesterday was a rest day from the workout stand point and that was so nice. I wanted to make myself foam roll and stretch but that didn't happen. It was a gloomy dark day so going home and cuddling on the couch was more appealing. My back still hurts today so we will see what tonight's workout looks like.

9:45 WTF?

So last night I did my workout and guess what my time was... YUP 9 minutes and 45 seconds AGAIN... Sheesh. Anywho so last night I did...

10 Rounds For Time
10 Walking Lunges
10 Pushups

Lets just say that today I am sore!!! Like My back is sore, every AB known to man, my arms... it all hurts. So today is a very well deserved REST DAY. I am thinking an easy dinner with a movie tonight... on the Menu tonight is Spaghetti Squash with Homemade Sauce and Sausages. YUM. I am excited for dinner already. I am a little sad that were not gonna have RAO's sauce but hey that stuff is made expensive... so my own homemade sauce will have to do.

Last night for dinner I made wings and Sweet Potato Fries. I had something else planned but we forgot to take some protien out of the freezer and our chicken wing dinner is easy and fast and only costs 6 bucks... not too shabby. I made two kind of wings, Sweet n Spicy Asian Style and Traditional Buffalo. I forgot to take a picture because I was BEAT. OMG! So sore and so tired...

Tonight I need to befriend my foam roller and rest up this body... My back needs to heal for Twirling on Saturday and also because the pain is ZERO fun.

Holy Guacamole

So to say that I am sore would be an understatement. I learned the hard way that I recently used the TRX incorrectly. I have been using the TRX for three weeks or so but last night I must have tweaked something in my back or used my Lower back instead of my core... BIG MISTAKE... I am über sore this morning my back is yelling at me.

My abs hurt too. Last night I kicked my own ass and I knew that right after I finished. Let's recap my work out...

Last Nights WOD:

4x TRX push ups
4x TRX bicep curls
4x scap retractions on the rings
4x ring holds at 10 sec each

Then I did the WOD;
7 Rounds For Time
7 squats
7 Burpees

I finished the WOD in 9:45... I kept moving the whole time and as I got to my last set I saw that I was approaching the 10 min mark and I went pedal to the metal. I want to revisit this one in a month n see if I can beat my time!!! So we will see :)

On Deck to tonight is 10 rounds for time
10 walking lunges
10 push ups
Sounds challenging we will see how I do!!!

New England Snow and Bikini Season

Lets start out with some Fun Pictures

So while I eat Paleo, I don't eat paleo 100%. When I started You Eat Weird I was, I cut out all sugar and I ate very strict and I felt great and I saw the pounds melt away. Now I am eating 100% Mon thru Fri and killing it on the weekends... I learned a very hard lesson on Sat night when I was doubled over in stomach pain with heartburn, that maybe I need to go 100% and let my cheats be Paleo Cheats, because lets face it my digestive system hates Gluten and Grains. I have realized that my life is always much better when I plan it out. I have a better diet and make healthier choices when I meal plan and have the right foods in the fridge. I work out consistently when I have a membership to a gym and take classes. Lets face it I am not a personal trainer or a Strength and Conditioning coach like my roommates so just knowing what to do when I work out is tricky. So here is my plan...

My Twin decided it would be fun to start a friendly competition to see who can get in the best shape for the Summer. We both can't afford to have gym memberships so we are going to go balls to the wall with whatever work out we have available to us without enlisting in a gym membership. I have been posting my workouts on here and I will continue to do that more with weekly plans of my work outs to get me in shape for wedding season... ( I have three weddings to attend this YEAR) (none are my own... Thanks Mike!) JK ( Only sort of).

This Weeks Work Out Plan:

Mon: Arms on TRX and WOD 7 Rounds: 7 Squats, 7 Burpee
Tues: Legs on TRX and WOD 10 Rounds: 10 Walking Lunges, 10 Push-ups
Wed: Rest Day (stretch and Foam Roll)
Thurs: For Time WOD - 100 Jumping Jacks, 75 Air Squats, 50 Push-ups, 25 Burpees
Fri: Rest Day (Stretch and Foam Roll)
Sat: Twirling
Sun: U Pick!

I am going to try and mimic the crossfit mentality, Stretching, some kind of warmup and strength, followed by a Workout Of the Day. So that is my plan. I want to do 3 to 4 WOD like workouts with Twirling, Stretching and Rest Days mixed in.

My sister and I will weigh in tomorrow and I am going to post my starting weight and MAYBE some pics...

*** Since I want Lindz and I to WIN I am sweetening the deal. If she can loose more body fat than me and can get to a goal body image by June 28th then I will buy her a Victoria's Secret Bikini of Choice.*** Yup you hear that Lindz, a free bikini for your new bod!

You Might Be a Redneck If...

So I am KIND OF obsessed with shows like Moonshiners and Full Throttle Saloon. Rednecks and Bikers, um yeah, I might be a closet Redneck. I find it fascinating learning about moonshining and the extreme lenghts they go to brew and sell this stuff. I get worried when Mike makes homemade Beer that he might poison us, let alone trying to make grain alcohol and sell it, while also breaking a MILLION Laws.

So Last Nights recap:

Mike started dinner with a little help from me, basically he made the protien and I made the veggies and potato. We had Steak Tips, with Mashed Sweet Potato and Mixed veggies. MmM so good.

I also did a workout and can I say... HOLY SORE... Here is what my workout looked like.
4 sets of 10 Squat Rows
4 sets of 10 Over the Head Tricept curls
4 Sets of 10 Chest Presses

With rest in between, Some Hang Holds on the ring, and some scap retractions for my shoulders...

Let's just say that my arms are sore but my abs... ya know the things that I am told I have but have never seen, yeah those abs, they are HOLY SORE. TRX is a tricky little thing, everything you do requires a strong and engaged core and you don't usually realize it until the next day... Yikes...

After my workout and my dinner feast I did some Holiday Decorating and watched my shows...

My New Found Love

I am kind of obsessed with these shoes, I spend a lot of time at work on Amazon comparing sales and prices for work and this shoe is on the front page every day. It is kind of haunting me. I am kind of in love with the crazy bright colors. While I WOULD love those shoes I am kind of embarrassed although not really to WANT TO OWN, a shoe that was probably already created in the 80’s and that I can probably find in an antique shop somewhere… HUMPF....

What’s new with me… hmm So I have found a new love for Spaghetti Squash. I have been indulging a little too much and I can feel it in my knees, I am also trying to get down to business with working out and so that might also be a factor. 

Last night I made Spaghetti Squash and Meatballs with Rao’s marinara sauce… OMG Rao’s Marinara is the BOMB.COM… I am a pasta sauce purist and always make my own sauce but I have wanted to try this sauce and it’s amazing. I am in love… It will definitely be a treat in my house vs. a staple since it’s like 8 dollars a bottle and I can make a big pot of sauce for like 5 dollars. Spaghetti Squash was super yummy and I think had I lightly sautéed it in a pan with garlic and oil it might have been that much more yummy. I am also toying with the idea of a bacon Mac n Cheese with some Coconut or almond milk. I’ll do some testing and report back.

Last Night’s WOD:

15 Squats
15 Side Bends
15 Push Ups
15 Abmat  Sit Ups
15 Knees to Chest (on the rings)

I wanted to work out last night and quick I was roasting a spaghetti squash and I wanted to make sure that I was done around the same time, so I did a quick AMRAP. I managed to do 2 and a half full rounds… I was super tired and sore after and I am a little sore today… Stretching and foam rolling and some TRX movements are on the game plan tonight.

Steak and Mashed Sweet Potato with Vegetable of the day!

I have been a Temp for a little over 10 months and I am so HAPPY that they have decided to bring me on FULL TIME!!! I traveled for business a few weeks ago and I found out the news then. TODAY is my first day as a FULL TIME EMPLOYEE... I am sooooooo Happy!

There are so many awesome things in the works and I am super excited about it, but... More on all of that later...

So Far 2013 has been a crazy great year, So many awesome surprises, good and bad....

Ace's First Birthday!!!

Friday night was Ace's birthday and so he had a party to celebrate!!! I had a few friends over for dinner and Ace and Ripley played all night long! I made ace a birthday cake of course and he loved it!! It was super easy to make...

Grain Free Pup Cake!

1 egg
1 ripened Banana
1 apple diced and mashed
3 tablespoons of peanut butter

Add all the ingredients to a bowl and stir to Combine! Then grease a cake pan of your choice I used my little heart shaped. Pans. Add the mixture to the pan and bake for 20 mins or until a tooth pick comes out clean!

Add 3 or 4 tablespoons of peanut butter to a bowl and melt in the microwave. Then add a teaspoon of arrowroot powder and mix.

Then just frost the cake and decorate the best way to make your Paleo pup drool!!!

All the ingredients in this cake are edible for humans, I wanted to try the cake but ace inhaled it and didn't ask if I wanted to taste... I guess he really liked it!!!


Paleo Police and the Controversy

I created this blog to share my recipes with my friends and to hold me accountable for what I do and say. I have really changed my life and my diet and I LOVE IT... I consider myself Paleo but maybe not 100% of the time,.... Does that mean I can't talk about my non-paleo-eats... ummm no it's my blog. My life is crazy busy and I am just trying to figure out how to navigate it sometimes and sometimes I want to stuff my face with foods that are not PALEO... Ohhh well, I will pay for it later in my digestion....

Juli the author of the New Cookbook coming out Paleo OMG and the blogger of paleomg posted this yesterday and I WHOLE HEARTEDLY Agree with her!

I make a ton of her foods and other recipes that I find online, I am getting more drawn to gluten free cooking and gluten free baking.... WHY because I love to bake and sometimes I want  yummy sweet treat. I know many in the Paleo community say that these TREATS really aren't "Paleo" per say, ok maybe they aren't but it's yummy and its all NATUAL foods. Should I change my blog everytime I change the way I eat, no... because while I may eat off Paleo sometimes, I eat on Paleo much more. I love my steak and sweet potato, and my eggs and bacon. I like to whip up home made Mayo, and I'll eat a plate of deviled eggs for breakfast.

I love the natural and processed free talk and lifestyle of the Paleo community. I love buying meats from places that treat the animals amazingly and create better meat for me and my family. I don't however like getting criticized when I decide to take a day off or indulge in a meal. It's my body and my life and this space is made for me to share great ideas of other bloggers and add a little Ace into your day.

Here Comes the Boom

So basically Kevin James is quite a hysterical human being, and I would watch any show or movie that he's in. So on my way home from work I stopped and got a movie, Here Comes the Boom.
It was a good movie, but I - can'treallyremembertheendbecauseIfellasleep- Whoops. Any ways our night was low key, We met at Whole Foods and Mike surprised me with a Mocha Latte and we went and picked out dinner. I wanted Chicken Pot Pie that only needed to be reheated, but he wanted Seafood. After assuring him I wasn't cooking we made a GREAT DECISION! I just ordered a bunch of yummy appetizer options, and some cheese and crackers. Then we headed to the check out.When I got home, Mike surprised me with a bottle of our favorite wine, my favorite beer, and an array of yummy chocolate bars.

Stuffed Clams, Cheese n Crackers, Lobster Arrancini, Crab Rangoon, Lobster Egg Roll... and Wine :)

Then he told me that he didn't get me flowers because he said that he would have spent 50+ dollars on flowers and that he shouldn't just buy me flowers on Valentines Day and that he needs to be better at surprising me with flowers and little surprises now and then. He has learned so much!!!

It was the best kind of night. We sat there with Dan and Meggles and we just hung out and had a relaxed and low key night... Those are the best kinds of nights.... And the best part... I got to cuddle in my PJs with my boys...

Valentines Day

This is my valentine

I am kind of a valentine's hater... I loved Valentines as a kid when you had fun and festive parties and gave all those cute cards to your friends and got little boxes of candy. When I got older and had a Boyfriend I always had people that would say that it's "Single Awareness Day" and kind of take the fun out it, so I am kind of over it.

I send Mike off to work with a cute little card and tonight we are going to watch a movie and have a nice and quiet night at home. No fancy dinners, just a low key night in our PJs :) with our Puppy!!

Cuddle Time Is the Best Time of Day

Every day like clockwork this lil guy hears my phone ring, my Sugarland alarm and he either hops on the bed from his bed of wags his lil butt up toward the top of the bed to give me morning kisses. I say kisses rather than a kiss because he pretty mush smothers me with love. Yep he wants to make sure I am awake.

This week he has been slacking he comes up and says good morning and then cuddles up in between Mike and I and so we have yet to make the 5:30am wake up time.. Oh well better luck tomorrow.

Lent is here and I don't want to give anything up. So I have decided to make a few changes, I need to consistently work out 4 to 5 times a week, and I need to eat clean Mon -Fri no exceptions. So I am charging myself to this until Easter. After all I need to just be more consistent in eating anyways I feel so much better when I do.

Food Shopping

Last Night we went food shopping and had dinner at at Panera... When we go home we just hung out a little and did a light workout and some Yoga and Ace wanted to get involved so he meditated with me... He jumped off pretty quickly and then came back to do some more yoga!

I have some AWESOME news for you readers out there but I will let you know whats up soon.

I need to get on the scale and check in with you guys so that I can get down on my weight and get ready for bikini season...

I Sweat Pink

Look what beat the snow storm and got delivered the other day!
I am OFFICIALLY a SWEAT PINK AMBASSADOR!!! So what does that mean? It means that I am an official member of the sweat pink community where other women come for advice on how to workout and eat right and go to each other for support and advice! I am super excited to be apart of this and I am looking forward to writing and reading what the other sweat pink ambassadors have to say!

I am really dedicating my time to working out. I want to make sure that I get to a level of fitness and health that I have always wanted to get to. I also have a ton of weddings to go to and I want to look and feel amazing. I mean I only have one life, I should  enjoy it right?

For some reason Ace HATES the broom, Mike was sweeping and he tweaked out for a good 30 mins, he was barking and twitching and freaking out, so we tried to desensitize him by giving him treats off the broom. It kind of worked.

Yesterday we spent all day cleaning and doing laundry. I needed to just re-organize and "spring clean" I feel so much better when the house is cleaned and de-cluttered. I kind of need a weekend from my weekend. It was nice to be home but I spent so much time at home being busy.

Like Father Like Son

Doesn't this just melt your heart. I love these two pups they are so awesome!

So this morning we got up and got moving. I made Mike a yummy breakfast of eggs and peppers, and we had some of the leftover Bacon and Sweet Potato Biscuits that I made last night. More on that later... I have so many yummy recipes to share with you! 

Sweet Potato and Bacon Biscuits :) YUM YUM 
These were super yummy and super easy to make.

3 Large Sweet Potatoes 
3 Eggs Beaten
3 TBSP Coconut Flour
1 TSP Garlic Powder
Leftover Bacon Fat

 I roasted Three sweet potatoes in the oven until they were soft, then while those cooked I then cooked a few strips of bacon in a fry pan. Once the potatoes were done then I peeled and mashed them in a bowl, then I added the rendered bacon fat into the bowl along with the chopped bacon, garlic powder, coconut flour and eggs. Then I mixed it all together and then dropped them onto a baking sheet with parchment paper. I baked them in a 375 degree oven for about 35 mins or until they are firm to the touch. These are super yummy and delicious! 

We ate these yummy sweet potato Biscuits with dinner last night and they were so good. Dinner was a hodge podge of 1 steak that Mike and I split, 2 small chicken breasts that I cooked in BBQ sauce, and cheesy broccoli. This was a strange dinner but super yummy, I ate about half and saved the rest for today's lunch. 

We had the leftover biscuits for breakfast and we even have more leftover for tomorrow morning! Score... I did so many yummy baking treats yesterday. I made Carrots N Cake's Paleo Apple Crisp  It was so Good!

The Coconut Cream was just AMAZING on top of this. I followed her recipe to the T so you should definitely try this out and follow the recipe. Next time I make this I think I am going to double the banana and also add in a few other flavorful fruits like blueberries and peaches to make more of a cobbler. This was a great snow day treat after a ton of shoveling!

Snowed In

So yesterday we got a little snow. If you were watching the news I am sure you heard about the huge storm Nemo. Yesterday I worked from home and I actually got a ton of stuff done.

I also ran out and got a few movies to watch. I made a big pot of chili and we just waited for the incredible amount of snow to fall.

When we woke up this morning we woke up to lots and lots of snow. It was like getting up on Christmas morning.

Ok let's back track to yesterday's WOD
Amrap 15

15 squat rows
10 tricep dips
15 push-ups
10 side bends
15 abmat sit-ups

I did 3 full rounds and then 15 squat rows, 10 tricep dips, and 5 push ups.
It was a rough work out but a good one this morning I went out and helped mike shovel and so that was my work out today and man am I sore.

Nemo Is Coming

We are supposed to get a ton of snow later today and so we prepared like every good new englander does.

I went and bought movies and food, and stuff to make baked goods, and Mike went and got Booze.
I am working from home today, because we are supposed to get a lot of snow starting at like 12 noon.

Girl Scout Cookies are NOT Paleo But Yummy!!!

This was my Night the other night, Some Tea and a handful of Trefoils. :) Yum Yum Yum

The best part of the night was sharing the night with Mike and Ace and talking about old memories of when we were young kids. I love those moments they are SUPER fun. We also watched the show Moonshiners which is a pretty weird but fun show.

Last night we had Sir Scott Shaw over and we ate Chicken Wings, and Crab Cakes, and Sweet Potato Puffs and it was Super Yummy.

How I Follow a Blog

How I Pick a Blog to Follow
 So There are a few blogs that I check several times a day, and everyday. Carrots N Cake, GmRuns, PBfingers, and Change of Pace just to name a few. Check out my blog roll for more of a few recommendations.

When I pick a blog there are a few things I do, Check the About Me Section to see what there story is, I like when I can relate to the weight struggles. I like to connect to the blogger and I typically go back to the ones that I can see myself being friends with.

I also look for bloggers that LOVE animals or that have dogs

I love my Ace Face and Riperdoodle and so I love when a blog talks about there dogs too because I always have Ace on my blog.

I love to catch up on my favorite bloggers and I tend to check them several times a day.

The Last thing that draws me to Blogs are RECIPES I am always looking for new recipes and there is always amazing Paleo recipes online. That is one way I am lead to a ton of blogs, and then the other factors help make up my mind whether I will continue to go back.
