Throwback Thursday

And ThrowBack Thursday is here... I love this idea it gives me a reason to think about and reminisce on the past...
This was my sister and one of my best friends just before the Opening Ceremonies at the 2006 AAU Jr. Olympics. This was such a fun trip and so perfectly timed before we all went off to college...
This gem is from a few weeks after that first picture was taken... I was so cool and though I was so cool... Clearly thumbs up! 

I saw this on my cousins FB and I really need to start doing this.. I need to take 5 mins and get my mind awake bad stretch my body... I will try and do this going forward and see what happens....

What's Up Wednesday

I want to buy this Range Rover... But since it costs as much as a third of my house I don't think I will be buying this anytime soon. Sad face...

This May or may not be in the mail for Ace for his birthday because it is perfect for him!!!

I think I NEED to buy XM radio because I am addicted to Octane and the 90s on 9 station... They couldn't be more polar opposites... But hey that's life right!

I want another bowl of this I made chili last night and it was perfect and I wish I had leftovers!!! Mike and I ate the whole pot! I need to make this more often it's so good!!!!

The Truth Hurts!!!

Some people may see this, become mad and close my blog and maybe never read again, OK that's your choice. Just like it's my choice to write this, and if you give me a chance I will explain where I am coming from.

If you read my blog you know me and my struggles with my weight and body, I have never thought big was beautiful, I do however think that you can be a variety of sizes and shapes and still be beautiful and be comfortable in your own skin. Maybe I struggle with being comfortable in my own body but that doesn't mean you have to be. 

At this point in my life I am all about "healthy". Does that mean that I can't eat "this" or "that"? No it means that I will be working hard to keep my diet in check and eat as clean as I can. I have seen documentaries with women and men who love being bigger and who can work it and if that works for you, then that's your choice, but it may not be healthy.

Think of it another way, would you trust and listen to a personal trainer who had rock hard abs and ate clean and worked out consistently and then found out that they were a Pack-A-Day smoker? Not really the picture of health huh? I am tired of the media and magazines saying that "this person is healthy, or that person is obese" First of all it's not your job to judge other people. What we should be doing in educating and making healthy affordable and easy for anyone who wants to get healthy to get healthy.

I have contemplated changing my blog name since I don't really follow the Paleo diet as strict anymore, I follow a more "Clean" diet, but it doesn't matter what I call it my life is better and my diet is better. Sure I eat bread once in a while, and pasta, but it's GOOD and FRESH and not just store bought and processed.

Right now I want to loose a few LB's but I am not focusing on what I want to loose I am focusing on my diet and exercise and just working on staying consistant. Living an 80/20 lifestyle where I eat clean, but also enjoy life and enjoy the foods I like that may not have the highest nutrients.

Weekend In Review

This is how my weekend started out. On Thursday night I mixed together 2 balls of bread. Its a stupid easy recipe where you Mix, Let it proof, and then Bake. Other than the waiting game it's super easy and literally anyone can do it... So on Friday night I got home, Mike and I had some Chinese food, I baked my bread, did some light cleaning and put together this basket of goodies for Mike's sister Amanda who moved on Friday into her OWN place!! Congrats Amanda!!
In the Basket From L to R: Best of Boston Home and This Old House Mag, Stonewall Kitchen Strawberry Jam, Homemade Bread, Kerrygold Butter, Sea Salt Caramels, and a Bottle of Bubbly. 
Sat Morning we moved Amanda and then went to Lincoln for lunch where I had Corned Beef and Cabbage Hash and it WAS SO GOOD! No wonder Amanda eats there all the time.

Then Mike and I went home and put in a new light in our house and properly fried a battery back up unit that is connected to our Fios equipment and thus started the weekend without internet and cable.
Which meant a Sunday to run to Starbucks for a Carmel Machiatto and some free wifi so I could get about an hour of work done!

Then it was nap time... I went to a friends Holiday party on Sat night and didn't roll into bed until 2am. ( I didn't party that hard I was the DD) and I had to get up bright and early on Sunday (8am) to take the pupperoni to dog class....

How fresh and delicious do those veggies look... Whole Foods Veggies are the BEST!
After my nap I got in the kitchen to make dinner. I wanted Thanksgiving and to also use up the leftover bread.

And a German Beer...

Thanksgiving In January... Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Chicken Breast, Homemade Stuffing From Scratch Baked Bread with Homemade Pan Gravy and Cranberry Sauce!

All that food made Ace quite tired... he passed out on us while we watched, The Grammys, Downton Abbey and Sherlock.

Happy Birthday Baby Marvin!!!

Plus Sized Model

Want to Laugh Check out This Article

Yup apparently she is plus sized. 

Which means if she is Plus Sized then I am obese. I remember watching the Tyra Banks modeling show, and I remember seeing a girl or two that were a size 14 and I remember thinking wait a minute they are plus sized? I get it, a woman wearing size 14 pants next to a woman wearing size 0, ok I guess so. But then when you look at some women who have bones sticking through and they are eating barely 500 calories a day to stay skinny and thin you have to ask yourself is it worth it? 

I have struggled with my weight and I still do, but it should come down to how you feel and if you feel good in your skin and your not in any danger health wise no one should judge you. That girl is clearly a healthy young girl with curves and be no means is she plus sized.

Weekend Recap

Friday- I made pork chops baked with an almond meal crust and baked apples!!!

Ace got his Bark Box in the mail!!
These yummy treats came in the mail along with Dog Beer... Yup I said dog beer.
Saturday- I had a FULL Day of Twirling and I picked up some last minute items before competition on Sunday!!!
Put the heating pad on my shoulder to help loose me up and relieve the pain in my shoulder.
Sunday - I hung out with this cutie on Sunday... One of the cutest kids ever!!
My Paleo friendly snacks... I packed 2 bottles of water and 2 of these power cookies... I also had a steaz iced tea...
Monday - A totally not paleo breakfast but hey I had to use the leftover crossaints somehow.
We went to the New England car show on Monday since we had the day off and then went home to paint the hallway...
Hmm which color orange or white????

This is my work out for tonight when I get home I was so excited to receive my Barre DVDs in the mail yesterday!!! I just need to hook up the DVD player in my back room so I can start doing the workouts!!!! 

This is what I got and I plan to do a mix of my Bodeefit workouts like the one I am  
Doing tonight and the barre excercises.

The reason for both is so that I can get the strength and conditioning and fill my crossfit cravings at home with the Bodeefit workouts and then do the barre workouts to help increase flexibility and work my core. I have tried yoga and it just isn't my thing it's too hippy dippy but I am looking forward to trying Barre. 

I will do a review on the set once I get my feet wet with it!!

I am trying to get back on track and eat better I have eating Oatmeal at work. I really love how eating clean makes me feel!

This lil guy has been making me so happy he is the best thing ever! When I came home last weekend after being gone for a day and a half he was so happy to see me and cuddled with me on the couch!

Shutting Down My Blog... Paleo Is the WORST DIET


As if I would do that... If you read my title of this post then I am sure that you looked like this.

I am not shutting down my blog. I am however SUPER annoyed about the media attention that the Paleo diet has been getting.

It's not even that it is in the media that bothers me, but the fact that I have heard many people discuss this and just take it for face value. (MOM). 

As kids we always heard the saying just because someone wants to jump off the bridge does that mean you should too? I am not going to just stop eating eggs because they " can give you high cholesterol" or not eat red meat because its bad for your heart, or start eating tofu because its healthy.

After doing the Paleo diet strict, I came away with this. If you want to loose weight the healthy way and fast then the Paleo diet is a good way to break old habits and re-train your brain of what whole and healthy foods are. You can get sucked into Paleo but for the most part once you learn how to eat carbs through veggies it does get easier.

I believe that Paleo is also great for someone who thinks they have a dairy or gluten allergy because it allows you to really step away from them and see if it makes a difference to eliminate from your life.

As a person who worked in the broadcast field you have to learn to watch the news and take it with a grain of salt. There main goal in news today is to break a story. Not have all the facts right.

----Side note, want to see a show on how media and news standards have changed over the years. Watch this PBS film about the JFK assassination, I am sure it will shock you how much news has changed.
 OK that will end my rant for today... Let me know your thoughts on the Paleo diet or the article. I am interested in some opposing opinions and reasons why.

Back to my Old Habits

Does that look familiar? Yup it's my famous nut butter and bananas. I know it doesn't look appealing but it's yummy and so filling....

Temptation is all around me with cookies and cake and wine around but I am trying to resist. 

I have in and had some wine last night because I made quite an error and messed up my car...

I hit a pot hole, bent my rim and ever so slightly popped my tire... Can you hear the cash register ring where you are? Payday is tomorrow and it's like it's weeks away... More and more money will go out the window. Ugh

Weekend In Review

MSo this weekend was super busy and jam packed and fun here are some of the things that I did this weekend! 

Fun photo shoots with the pup!!!

I made this Creme Brûlée French Toast Again. 

I had twirling Practice and needless to say  I was super sore!!!

We went to Beer Works for dinner and it was fabulous!!!

I went coat shopping ...  Something I HATE... Ugh short arms... Narrow shoulders...but I did find one :) 

Mike and Ace melted my heart passing out and looking cute while doing it!!!!

This is the new 30 day challenge that I will be doing! Starting today after work!!! 

This will be interesting!!! I'll let you know how I do!!!!
